Effie Irene Oliver Ussery
Effie Irene Oliver Ussery, 94, of Sweetwater died Sunday, Oct. 24, 2004, in the Rolling Plains Memorial Hospital in Sweetwater.
Funeral services will be held graveside at Slater's Chapel Cemetery in Nolan, Texas, at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 27, 2004. James Baker will officiate the service.
Services will be under the direction of Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home of Sweetwater.
Family visitation will be held at Cate-Spencer and Trent Funeral Home on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2004, from 6-8 p.m.
She was born on Jan. 6, 1910, in Nolan, Texas. Effie was the daughter of Osie and Emma Oliver. She graduated from high school at Divide in 1931 and married Melvin Ussery on April 27, 1935. They moved to Sweetwater in 1950, where she worked as a housekeeper at Simmons Memorial Hospital for several years. She was a member of Nolan Baptist Church. Effie loved yard work and gardening and raised chickens.
Survivors include one sister, Thelma Hankins of Sweetwater; one niece, Ann Reed of Sweetwater; and special friends, Arthur and Jo Ann Wright of Sweetwater.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin Ussery, and also several brothers and sisters.
