Notes for Anna Catherine Orndoff
The book is titled John Orndorff, Pennsylvania Pioneer and His Ancestors, compiled by John Barclay Orndorff and copyright 1953.1 saw the book in the Waynesburg, PA (Greene Co.) library when I visited there in 1985.
The book's author is a descendant of the 1792 marriage in Frederick Co. between John Orndorff, Jr. and Margaret Renner, a daughter of George and Barbara Renner. Margaret's brother Jacob married Barbara Wisecarver in 1790. According to the book, John Orndorff had a child before his marriage to Margaret. The book says the child "was not the daughter of Margaret Renner but the Orndorffs reared her and she was christened Catherine Orndorff. She became the wife of George Wisecarver, a Revolutionary War veteren." (p.26)
