Notes for Joseph Wisecarver

I believe after the research that I have done that Joseph is the son of George Wisecarver and Catherine Orndoff. I am currently looking for marriage records for Joseph and Lucretia. 05 February 2005.....Mary M. "Peggy" Wyscaver Novak

Per the 1850 census for Huntington Twp., Ross Co., Ohio, Joseph Wyscaver, age 46, born in Virginia, was residing with his wife Lucretia, age 35, born in Pennsylvania, and their eight Ohio-born children: Eddey, age 17 (female); Lucinda, age 16; Henry, age 15, a laborer; John, age 12 (?); Jess, age 9; Sarah, age 8; George, age 4;, and Kittey, age 1.

IOWA STATE CENSUS COLLECTION, 1836, 1925
lists Joseph Wyscaver, date 1854, Residence Union, Marion Co.,Iowa
Line 13 roll 1A-122. lists 4 males 4 females, voters 1, total 8.
IOWA STATE CENSUS COLLECTION, 1836-1925
lists Joseph Wyscaver, census date 1856, Residence Union, Iowa, married male, birth abt. 1802. Line 4 roll 1A--61. Lists wife Lucretia , children; Jesse 15, George 8, Caty Ann 6, Mellissa 0 b. Iowa.

Per the 1880 census for Washington Twp., Jewell Co., Kansas (E.D. 126, p. 27), Joseph Wyscaber (sic), age 78, a farmer, was residing as a boarder with Sylvester Vandeford, age 46. Joseph was listed as single and as having been born in Iowa (!) to parents born in North Carolina and New Jersey, respectively. [Sylvestor Vanderford had been a neighbor of Goerge W. Wyscaver in Iowa and Kansas, also]

On the death certificate of George Washington Wyscaver, youngest son of Joseph and Lucretia, the parents were listed as Joseph Wyscaver and Lucretia Morris. The informant was George's son Milton M. Wyscaver.

1/02/05 Mindy Ost--Genealogist from Mankato, Kansas went to Fairview Cemetery Jewell Co., KS and found the stone of Joseph Wysscaver 19 July 1886, the same stone as his wife Lucretia Wysscaver--on the other side. [The stone listed Joseph's age as 82 years 10 mos. and that calculated back to 07 Sept 1803. In the obiturary of Issac W. Wisecarver, son of George and Catherine Orndorff wisecarver, it is said that Issac had a twin. That would have been Joseph listed on the family tree of George and Catherine. Also Issac married Rebecca Morris cousin of Lucretia Morris.} The stone had been missed in being recorded in 1983 because it had fallen over. Close to son George and Sarah Wyscaver and daughter Katie and John Edgar. Daughter Lucinda and Husband James Scammy buried near by in the same cemetery. [ The stone of Joseph and Lucretia Morris has been repaired and is standing upright in 2005, paid for by Peggy Wyscaver Novak and Nikki Gallegos Wyscaver.]
