Notes for Lottie May Wyscaver
Taken from an e-mail from Jeanette Schrawyer...
Lottie's strange behavior was pyromania. She would be fine for a couple of
months and then "go off'. Her favorite target was hay stacks and barns,
exp. if she felt that the owner was disrespectful or cheated her family in
any way. So she would be kept in the town jail as a safety precaution.
The church women were responsible for feeding her and caring for her needs.
When she "settled" down, she would go home. I don't know when the
behavior started but she was described as a "spirited" young woman and sometimes hard to get along with.
10 years ago when I met Arlie and his wife, Odessa, he would tell of spending summers there at Gr'pa's and Gr'ma's and he would see her "signs" of illness, a pretty horrible sight for a child. As he got older he was out in the fields with the men and someone from the town, usually the sheriff, would come up and tell Gr'pa.
Three infant daughters of Clarence and Lottie Schrawyer are buried in Fairview Cemetery Area 1 lot 28--very close to their Grandparents George and Sarah Wyscaver. Dates on the stone 1899, 1903, 1910.
Lottie May Wyscaver was born in Jewell county, Kansas, March 21, 1880 and departed this life January 20, 1939 at the age of 58 years and 10 months. She died at the home of her daughter, Verdia May Cole, where she was staying so she could be close to medical care.
Lottie May Wyscaver was married to Clarence E. Schrawyer on Feb. 8, 1898. To this union six children were born, Virgil Elmer Schrawyer, Mrs. Verdia May Cole both of Franklin, Mrs. Verila Bell Haskin, North Platte, and three children who died in infancy. She lived South of Franklin since 1911.
Mrs. Schrawyer had been in poor health for some time but was only seriously sick one day. Everything was done for her that physicians and loving hands could do but the Master called her home. Those who cared for her, remarked of her patience and never a word of complaint, only that she would be glad to be released from suffering and go to the home above. Last summer during her sickness she found peace with her Lord in her own home.
She leaves to mourn her sudden going her husband, three children, four grandchildren, two sisters, five brothers, nieces, nephews and a host of friends and neighbors Burial in Greenwood Cemetery.------obitutary Franklin, Nebraska January 26, 1939
