WINTHROP MAN BURIED SUNDAY
WINTHROP ? An impressive funeral service was held Sunday afternoon, February 22, for Alvin J. Wyscarver in the Community Methodist church with K.C. Holman of Pateros officiating and Ralph Kenison, funeral director. Interment was in Sullivan cemetery.
Pallbearers were: T.J. Sloan, Wm. Stewart, Rufus Blevens, Earl Short, Frank Pemberton.
The beautiful hymns, "No Night There," "Some Day He?ll Make it Plain" and "Does Jesus Care? " were sung by Mr. and Mrs. K.C. Holman of Pateros, accompanied by Mrs. C.C. Laughlin of Twisp, pianist.
The scripture readings was taken from John 14:1-3; Revelations 21:10-12, 14, 18, 21, and Rev. 21:04.
The main comforting thoughts of Mr. Holman?s message were: "Christ?s parting promise to his desciples may comfort us in the hour of sorrow," John 14:1-3; "Mr. Wyscarver?s 69 years, lacked only one year of reaching his allotted three score and ten," Ps. 90:10; "Comforting after a long and useful life," Job 5:26; "They shall come from the land of the enemy," Jeremiah 31:16; "All are faced with the stark reality of death," Romans 5:12; "Job looks at death sensibly," Jobe 14:1, 2, 13, 14;
"The Christians Hope ? the call of the "Trumpet of God" at the resurrection, "1 Cor. 15:51-55; "I will ransom them from the Power of the Grave," Hosea 13,:14; and his final text was "an appeal to those who are left," from Revelations 21:17 and 22:14.
Alvin J. Wyscarver was born in Jewell county, Kansas, February 16, 1897, to Drusella Marshal. Five children, for boys and one girl, were born to this union.
The Wyscarver family lived in Oklahoma and followed the occupation of farming for 55 years. He was an honest and upright man and well thought of among his neighbors as shown by the eighty or more friends who came to bid them farewell when they left Oklahoma to come to Washington in September, 1941. In December, 1941, they moved from Twisp to Mazama.
He is survived by his wife, four sons, Earl and Guy, Twisp, Melvin of Knowles, Oklahoma, and Glen of Wichita, Kansas; one daughter, Stella Paasch of Knowles, Oklahoma; three brothers, Napoleon of Arkansas, James of Hudson, Colorado;, and Isaac of Superior, Nebraska; two sisters Rose Kent of Dillon, Montana, and Pearl Murphy of Kiowa, Kansas, and eighteen grandchildren.
The Community extends their heartfelt sympathy to the bereaved ones.
